You have to be good at compartmentalizing, and even if Shaw had a general awareness at the beginning of the season that this one might be his last, doesn’t mean that he didn’t hope and or expect that he could turn things around.  It was worth noting that before the game two weeks ago, we technically still had a shot at a bowl game, so maybe that was the benchmark.  It’s possible that once we lost to Utah and were out of contention for a bowl game, he decided that it was time (or he knew that if he didn’t decide, someone would decide for him).
