Your line about Leonhard caught my attention, because I thought the whole point of firing Chryst was to not have someone poach Leonhard.  I guess Fickell was irresistible (https://www.espn.com/college-football/st...kell-coach) but still, I’m surprised they didn’t make Leonhard the permanent head coach.  Poor Cincinnati, they keep getting their head coaches poached.

Leonhard was not sexy enough. He was associated with the past regime. The firing of Chryst IMHO sent the message that there were big aspirations that could only be met by big changes. Whether that will work out or not is the question. Chryst was a good coach, but he wasn't likely to win the Big-10. They needed somebody that they could at least argue would do so.
