Yea, Gardner has a long stretch of tweets about Stanford’s futility the last few years. The tweet prior to the one I posted was:

It was clear he wasn’t happy with our futility. But after he stepped aside, Gardner tweeted he was proud to have played for him.  So, it doesn’t seem to have been personal (or he’s being diplomatic).
