Was Lieber in front of Harris on the depth chart?  By the time Lieber was starting, Harris had left the team.

Also, if Harris really couldn't beat out a walk-on and converted safety, what makes you think he'd play a lot going forward.  Even granting that Smith (by the way, wasn't conventional wisdom that he would transfer as well?) and Filkins were injury-prone, those injuries happened this year, and yet Harris didn't see the field (though I suspect had he not left the team, he probably would have, out of necessity).

Yes, I have been waiting for Smith's announcement.  The rumor mill had him ditching the program at the end of the year, with the injury not really season-ending.  Let's see.
