The more announcements of coaches departing their roles, the better.

Being excited about new hires is one thing but can we avoid celebrating the firing of assistant coaches who have invested countless hours into the program, most of whom have families to support? Unlike Shaw who made millions, those guys will be scrambling for their next pay check.

While I do have sympathy for these coaches, many of them had exceptionally long tenures with the Stanford program. This is unusual in their profession.

In addition, Anderson and Pritchard have been at Stanford since the start of Harbaugh era and had the credibility and experience to work with Coach Shaw to make the changes he should have started making after the 2018/2019 season. Recruiting and on-field performance were already slipping. Anderson and Pritchard were the coordinators and yet they remained comfortable with the status quo.

My hope is Pritchard goes to the 49ers as an offensive analyst or QB coach. Kyle Shanahan would be great teacher for him. Lance Anderson was superlative early in his tenure at Stanford when a big part of his job was recruiting and a liason with admissions. If he was open to doing that again he might helpful to the new regime.
