Taylor has no choice but to roll out the red carpet and welcome any and all players back. It's easy for other incoming coaches, such as Riley or Sanders, to count on getting 20, 30 transfers if needed. How many will Taylor be able to land, even if the admin starts to revise its stance on grad transfers? Given the hemorrhaging, it'll soon be about bodies, if it isn't already. Enough guys to field the necessary practice squads, for instance. I've said it before: I hope they're looking at incoming transfer options among the Ivies and Northwesterns/Dukes/Vanderbilts/Rices.
As much as I loathe this new transfer policy, I don't blame the players for leaving one bit, especially the grad transfers with a Stanford degree in hand (or soon to be). Even if I liked my time on the Farm and the new coach, I'd jump in a heartbeat for a free grad school experience and a chance to play for a winning team in a new environment. I might do that even if Stanford were fit to have a decent season next year.
