Thanks for the link to jerk. Perhaps given its use to describe people who suffer from involuntary spasms, it might be considered ableist, but it also for me falls under the category of words that are hard to replace. Other options, like a-hole, have their own issues, and saying “don’t be a meanie” doesn’t quite capture the essence of it. I might, however, watch it, if I was with someone I knew suffered from certain neurological disorders that produce myoclonus.
