Universities are not and never have been free markets. What is the meaning of a "free market" at a "non-profit" institution?

It is time for football to go the way of baseball and have "free markets" in the sense of minor league teams. Universities can continue with the amateur ideal. Keep the two systems separate, and give young talent the choice of which system they want.
