I don't know if I'll be able to convince you, but my time leading football recruiting coverage for TOS and my many years obsessively following recruiting leads me to believe that indeed you are wrong that there aren't facts in evidence that "there are always the guys and we just have to find them." Some years are much harder sledding than others, but in any 2.8 year span there are certainly double digit guys who can help our OL, rather than four.

The numbers above indicate you should be able to get 5 a year. If half of them are "busts", in 2.8 years you end up with 7 guys who can play. That is enough, and more than we have had. You have to get all 14 to commit to do the "experiment" however, and that may not be easy.

P.S. For what it's worth, I think every national award in sight is on the table potentially for Nugent at Michigan. I would be surprised if he's not an All-American according to one of the main deciders of such things. Hinton strikes me as somebody who may or may not be good enough to start at Michigan and, if he stayed at Stanford, I would have expected him to finally be an average Pac-12 OL in 2023.

With this assessment I totally agree. Nugent may have some challenges because the guy he is replacing set a pretty high standard, but he has shown potential. It will be interesting to watch. I agree with you exactly on Hinton.
