Quote:According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, the term “field work” can be traced back to 1767 in uses meaning “gathering statistics or doing research out-of-doors or on-site.” Merriam-Webster’s website says the term’s first-known use was in 1686, to mean “a temporary fortification thrown up by an army in the field.”
So, not slavery related. What's next? Maybe they'll ban the word "cultivate" and the term "sow seeds."
BTW, do these idiots think that the only people that ever worked in agricultural field were slaves or immigrants. If so, I've got news for them. They're wrong. As a matter of fact, I'll bet that more field work was performed in the USA over it's history by non-minorities than by slaves or immigrants.
Put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip.
