2 O Linemen, 1 D Lineman, a DB, A WR and an RB. The 2 linemen are Ivy League transfers, plus 4 more high school commits.
Only looked at the bio for the lineman from Harvard — preseason All Ivy league, lots of playing experience, no mention of rankings coming out of high school.
I’m sure the pessimists will find things to be pessimistic about but I’m excited. But this covers some Areas of need (although I’s still like to see some LBs). A lot more players than some people thought there would be. Players transferring in for the Spring. And most importantly — for the transfers, players proven on the football in college experience, even if it was in the Ivy League.
I am not claiming it’s an instant turnaround but I like the trend, the energy, the experience and the competition.
Stanford’s past transfers did remarkably well — I think there’s something to be said about proven players who come in and relish the opportunity to suit up at Stanford, and hope the trend can continue and grow in the era of the transfer portal.
