Nobody seems to talk about Oregon and Washington having to bring OSU and WSU along, which would likely keep them out of the B1G. Stanford's ties to Cal are mostly "sentimental" and with UCLA propping up Cal, it may be time to separate.
I don't understand the reasoning behind the above comment.
Recent articles I read the Big 10 currently has its expansion plans on hold. They're not even talking to Notre Dame, but no one can be sure what's happening behind closed doors.
That said, the four California schools do belong together, and adding Stanford and Cal would increase the frequency of trips out west for the rest of the B1G.
Besides, if there are two schools that don't fit in the Big12, they are Stanford and Cal.
