Alternatives would be to change to the passive voice "As a valued supporter of Stanford Athletics, you are invitedĀ to join an exclusive virtual event..." or to not highlight the pitch that the recipient is a valued supporter "We are excited to invite you, a valued supporter of Stanford Athletics, to join a virtual event..."
It grates because it kind of tries to make the object (you) into the subject "As a valued supporter of Stanford Athletics"
