All this begs the question. IF well-heeled Stanford people are ready to pony up the cash to compete, how the hell are the "pencil-necked geeks who prefer the Ivy model" actually in charge of anything? Why aren't they pushed out in favor of people who will value the marquee sports, and won't tolerate Oregon State, Washington State having a superior football team to Stanford's? People who won't allow the MBB program to miss the NCAA tournament for a decade?
