That was one ugly game - at least if you have any interest in pitching and defense. 
34 total runs, 31 hits, 8 home runs, 4 errors (3 by Stanford), 21 walks, 5 HBP, 12 pitchers used, a total of 447 pitches thrown. 

The good news for Stanford is they got through the game without using much of their usual weekend pitching. Dugan has come on in relief of Scott lately, but I think he is now nominally the midweek starter. Meier had only pitched 5.1 innings prior to last night. Uber has been struggling a bit and has seen his role reduced - but last night was the most effective pitcher we put out there (2.2 innings, no runs, only one hit, 2 walks, 1 HBP, but a lot of being behind in the count). I think the official scorer was a little lazy in giving the win to Meier rather than Uber. 

Of course Oklahoma probably still has most of their bullpen available as almost none of their pitchers went for more than an inning. Most of the guys they threw out there hadn't pitched a whole lot this season, though their starter has the second most innings pitched on the team and one other guy had pitched more than 10 innings.  Their guy most effective against us (Turnquist) had only pitched 1.1 innings before last night. 

I expect our next three starters will be Matthews, Scott, Dixon - all on one fewer day of rest than standard. Pancer and Dowd will get the most bullpen innings. Be interesting to see if Montgomery reappears on the mound. He hasn't pitched in almost a month. Our bullpen is so thin it seems we're going to need him.

p.s. on Cobb and the cycle. In the fourth inning Cobb got a hit and made it to second base. It was eventually ruled a single and an error on the center fielder (who I think bobbled the ball in picking it up). It could be that call wasn't made immediately, leading to the announcers believing Cobb had hit a double.
