Always good to notch a series win. This one was tough, with plenty to worry about or celebrate depending upon your wont. 

The good:
There is a reliable top-end of the bullpen now. 
The top end of the bullpen is clearly: Dowd - Bruno - Pancer. 
Those three came in, in order, for both the Friday and Sunday games. Combined they covered 10.2 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, 2 walks. 

Matthews keeps chugging along. He's now second in the Pac 12 in ERA - just behing UCLA's Kelly Austin (though Matthews has 21 more innings pitched - and Austin seems to have been moved to the UCLA bullpen, maybe something like the way Matthews was used last year). 

Stanford remains in second place in the Pac, 1/2 game behind ASU (who had a rain out canceled game vs UW last weekend). Oregon is now in third, 2 games behind Stanford. 
Our advantage vs ASU is that their four remaining series are against the #2 through #5 teams in the conference (i.e. the four teams following ASU in the standings). 

The Bad: 
The rest of the bullpen is struggling. Dugan, Meier, OHarran, Lopez, Uber, Montgomery have not been effective just lately (though Meier had a few good outings last week). We need some productivity there - maybe two guys who can manage several innings (another couple if we have to manage a 5 game week). 

Matt Scott has suddenly had two rough outings. Wonder if he hit the freshman wall. Last two outings: 7.2 innings pitched, 9 runs, 10 hits, 2 HBP. 

The offense vs. front line pitchers. Still putting up runs versus lesser arms, but in thee of the past four series the offense has folded against our opponents #1 and #2 starters (that includes Oklahoma, Oregon, UW). The opponents' starters' stats in those 6 games were: 7 1/2 innings per game; 0.8 runs/9 innings; 5.8 hits/9 innings. The team went 1-5 in those 6 games.

My only quibble. Dugan has been much better in his last few appearances.
