Despite the stats indicating the opposite, from watching some 7 games this year, I get the sense we are offensively weaker this year.
How is the conference this year vs. last year? Is it weaker (Stanford playing vs. worse teams than last year)? Is it possible that our bench players are doing much better when given the opportunity than last year's bench?
Last year, I thought we had a killer's row 1 through 9 in the lineup. This year, I see a dropoff.
On the pitching side, Alex Williams had an incredible regular season, but struggled in the post season. Matthews was strong in the bullpen. This year, we have Matthews and Scott starting, with Bruno and Dowd in the bullpen.
I'll take last year's offense with this year's pitching.
