I seriously doubt that, my friend. You've too much invested to quit. Your level of involvement may decrease, there may be a shift away from NIL sports, but you'll still follow Stanford sports in particular, and college sports in general. So much of college sports has nothing to do with money, that's what makes college (and all sports), great.
Yeah, I've been wondering about that myself. Will NIL be a contagion that eventually effects all sports or is it just going to target Football, MBB, and, to a lesser extent, WBB? I really, really don't want Stanford to be a school where I'm just rooting for Cardinal colored laundry and WILL quit supporting any Stanford sport where the laundry wearers are no longer also Student-Athletes.
So how deep will the contagion reach? And, does the AD and University leadership have a plan?
NIL is absolutely happening in the Olympic sports. The difference is that it isn't BS money from alums. It is money from real brands that want to be associated with the athletes. Rose Zhang and Rachael Heck have deals. Swimmers that make the Olympic team will get big money. Some of the gymnasts have big social media followings....
