Scoring conditions were tough this morning! I don't know if it's related to weather or course conditions (pin placements, green speed) or both. Stanford posted a 290 (+2), 17 shots higher than yesterday. But some of the other top teams fell even further. Wake Forest posted 299. South Carolina shot 302. Lauren Walsh from Wake Forest was leading the tournament through 36 holes. She posted an 11(!!) on the par 5 4th hole. Stanford had a few double bogeys but avoided bigger numbers. The players showed good grit to recover from those bad holes. And the team finished strong with Englemann finishing birdie-eagle and Zhang making birdie on 18.
Stanford is now 19 shots clear of the 9th place team and in excellent position to advance to match play which only includes the top 8. Rose Zhang has moved up to 3rd in the individual race. One stroke play round to go tomorrow and it will be televised on Golf Channel. Stanford and the other leaders will probably tee off later in the day so that they are finishing in prime time for TV.
