I would also argue that at least 1 of the 2 runs was on our defense not taking the sure out at first, and trying to
tag the lead runner. (Allister seemed to echo this in the post-game interview as far as us not making the best
decision to go for the lead runner).
Vawter uncharacteristically gave up some hits with advantages in the count. Law of averages and her quality meant
she was going to start taking advantage of the counts she was able to get.
Regardless of the Card's struggles against Washington, Utah, and UCLA,
this team clearly should have been a top 8 seed, and hopefully is playing with some motivation (by contrast,
Alabama, who shockingly got the #5 seed, is being pushed all the way by Middle Tennessee State,
who had to win conference tourney just to qualify.
