Roxy Bernstein agrees re the strike zone.  Here’s the story on Brandon Cooper.

I’m not sure if Roxy was thinking of a different pitch but Bruno’s 2-2 pitch to Wilken missed both high and outside. It wasn’t really close.

Here’s what Wes Clements says.  And this from the play bybplay. “Wilken walked (3-2 KBBSBB); Kurtz advanced to second.”  There were two pitches after the second strike.

OK, I’ve seen the replay. The pitch I saw was on the outside corner at the knees. Will post the clip as soon as my hardware catches up. Stay tuned.

I think we pitched outstanding, even with the weird strike zone. I think we played solid defense.

I think that we did very poorly on the base paths, giving a great team free outs and taking away potential runs (a double killer). And I think that we did not hit with RISP, and that includes some of our most vaunted hitters.

When you make running mistakes and don't come through with productive hitting, especially as a team that relies on scoring, you almost always lose to good teams. We had a chance as their ace was off his game. We did not take advantage of it.
