I’m not sure if Roxy was thinking of a different pitch but Bruno’s 2-2 pitch to Wilken missed both high and outside. It wasn’t really close.
Here’s what Wes Clements says. And this from the play bybplay. “Wilken walked (3-2 KBBSBB); Kurtz advanced to second.” There were two pitches after the second strike.
If you go to the box score of the game on ESPN you can see the pitch location. I think it was a bit higher than the spot shown, but it’s clearly well off the plate. The dead giveaway that it was outside was Moore yanking his glove way back to his left after he caught it.
I’ll put it like this, if that had been a Stanford batter at the plate and that pitch was called a strike, I would’ve been livid.
