quite honestly with the recent ump performances in college and even MLB , I'm in favor of going to an automated strike zone.

I mean, if we have the technology, it is like VAR in soccer, why not get the call right. That being said, same home plate ump in top and bottom halves of the inning.

It was NOT the same strike zone in the top and bottom halves of the inning, even if it was the same human. That is a big part of the problem.

Go back and look at the pitches that were called strikes on Rios and the ones Bruno did not get.

When you have humans (when you don't need to , as the technology is there), you have people who can be affected by things like reputation. That ump should be an ice skating judge, because his calls were influenced by Bruno's and the Wake picture's reputations. That is bs. The only thing that should matter is whether the pitch was in the zone as the home plate umpire has called it all day. Btw, that is another problem with humans calling balls and strikes. Why does every ump get to decide what his strike zone is?

The world has evolved. Let machines call balls and strikes, at least at the upper reaches of the game, to eliminate human subjectivy and bias. Let the kids decide the game, not the old men.

In baseball, if they won't give you the corners, you have the throw meatballs down the middle. And these kids are good enough to hit meatballs.

I want an electronic strike zone to get the call right. And maybe the lion share of the explanation today is the inconsistent strike zone and home plate ump. What I also do know is in three out of the last four games, and four games in this tournament already, the bullpen has gotten a lead or tied game and lost either the lead and/or the game (the drop fly ball at Sunken Diamond gave us the walkoff against UT). I am a big softball fan; by my count, Stanford softball blew one game in the bullpen all season (on the road at Utah). An elite pitching team (like Stanford softball) shuts the door. This is not an elite pitching team.
