* Ben asked specifically about Lamson and Jackson so of course we fans will parse those answers for clues. Taylor talked about Lamson as a tough kid, very competitive, accurate, and football is important to him. It's interesting that these traits all related to makeup except for one skills trait that happens to be the one Taylor has said he prioritizes. Taylor talked about Jackson as the ball coming out really nice, having great anticipation, and seeing the field really well. As Taylor explicitly said, a lot of what stands out with Jackson are the kinds of things you can't teach. I have to believe that when Taylor gives concrete compliments in his most watched/prized room we should understand that he is, naturally, comparing them to each other. I take this as evidence that Lamson may stand out in makeup compared to one or both of Patu and Daniels (though I must say I didn't pick up warm and fuzzies as Taylor was saying it and we don't have any reason to know one way or another how well Lamson's personality meshes with Taylor's) and also probably stands out in accuracy compared to one or both of them. What's most interesting to me is that if one just looked at what Taylor said about the two (or at his body language when saying it) you might give Jackson the edge. Those are pretty big/salient compliments to be giving the freshman. We'll know more once we start getting data points on Patu and Daniels too but I really appreciate getting a bit of a glimpse into Taylor thinking on Lamson and Jackson.
