* Regarding the offense generally, of course there was mention of pace and tempo like there always is but of note was Manley mentioning "a lot more shots." It's unclear to me whether he's talking volume of plays (in which case it's just another way of making the tempo point) or shots down field or percentage of plays that are passing plays. If I had to guess I think he means shots down field, but it could be any or a combination. The biggest insight was probably "the quick game is lethal, that's kind of hard to cover at times." I consider spring games, including this year's non-game showcase, essentially worthless, but one thing I did notice was a lot of that quick game. I expect that to be a staple in the offense (and really wish we still had Mike Wilson or Connor Wedington).
* The answer on what he likes most about Stanford started out very odd (at least unusual compared to how other players answer) in talking about Andrew Luck and Michael Thomas coming around and there being alumni support to get Stanford football back to its standard, but eventually he circled around to the obligatory genuflection toward the "it's the people" kind of answer everybody gives about schoolmates and professors.
* I like that he corrected himself a bit when he was talking about how he's excited for Hawaii after all the work we have put in - "especially all the work that I've put in personally." Speaks to that unfinished personal business vibe and competitiveness and maybe a bit of a chip on his shoulder too. Just in general he said some version of the word "compete" a lot and I like that.
