You weren't lying about the volume on these analyses.  Thank you for sharing here Matt, I see how out of touch I am by how unfamiliar I am even with the names of not only coaches, but players.

Of the 2 subscription sites, which would you recommend from a former long time Bootboarder.  

I'm interested into insights about our players, team, coaching and to a lesser extent, recruiting.  I don't really care about other teams other than the ones we are going to play.

For what you're looking for, I'd probably say Cardinal Sports Report (Rivals). I also like that it's one message board rather than a bunch of forums. It's enough for me to go to multiple sites, multiple forums within a site is too much for a school with communities/discussion as small as Stanford (to be honest I don't even visit the basketball board on 247, despite some excellent commentary, because I forget about it). I also like the layout/interface/search function on Rivals better. But they each have their pros and cons. 247 (formerly the Bootleg) has the best football practice/injury/etc. reports and the best network for recruiting coverage, though On3 is quickly gaining on that front. Cardinal Sports Report covers a range of sports and has good interviews, as well as somewhat more robust discussion.

I'll be blunt and immodest about what you are looking for: aside from the practice reports on 247 and interviews by the two sites, insights about our players, team, coaching, and recruiting come more from obsessive super fans like me and SamuelMcF and a handful of others on the two sites much more than from the site publishers. We're no longer in an era where site publishers cultivated deep sources and original reporting/scoops. Jackson at 247 probably comes the closest. One can hope that over time both he and Ben at Rivals can improve their networks, access to the Taylor staff, chops/instincts, etc.

Bottom line is Jackson reports on practices unlike anybody out there, Ben has a knack for interviews, all message boards have pros and cons, and to the extent what you're looking for is a community with a range of insightful voices on football Cardinal Sports Report may have the lead right now.
