Looks like we're missing a bunch of big names at this tournament. The draws are out, and the only Stanford players participating in singles are Connie Ma and India Houghton, with Ma getting the #2 seed.
So, limited involvement, but it's at least a little Stanford tennis. Houghton plays #93 Ayumi Miyamoto of Oklahoma State at 1pm, and Ma plays Pepperdine's Anna Campana, who mostly played #6 for the Waves last year. If chalk holds, Ma would be in line to play #6 newcomer Aysegul Mert of UGA in the quarters, #40 Ange Oby Kajuru of Oklahoma State in the semis, and the winner of #6 Dasha Vidmanova (UGA) and #23 Savannah Broadus (Pepperdine) in the final. Frankly, given the field, anything less than an appearance in the finals would be a disappointment for Ma. We'll see how it goes!
That said, Angelica Blake is also showing up, but just for doubles, where she'll partner with Ma as the 3rd-seeded pair. They start things off tomorrow morning at 10am against a pair from TCU.
