If it is proven that Harbaugh knew about this effort, IMO he obviously has to be fired. He has to be fired not simply because "cheating is wrong" (which it is), but rather for criminal stupidity. He has a great team with a good chance to win every given game. This poorly conceived scheme to get films of opponents sidelines to decipher their signals risked Michigan's reputation, the possibility of one or more wins being vacated, and some level of sanctions being applied. Michigan currently could be being DQ from the B1G championship. Maybe it won't happen, but with several other B1G teams bringing the charges, I wouldn't be confident it won't.
If Harbaugh wanted to cheat, he needed to at least do it in a way that would be much harder to discover. He could then conceivably ride off into the sunset with one or more national championships. Having a single individual buy tickets to 30 games creates an unusual "paper trail". No need to do this. Have the people who are doing the "camcorder" work buy their own tickets. Find a more discrete way to get the images than having somebody hold up a cell phone pointing to the sidelines the entire game! This makes the Watergate burglars look professional. The way this "plot" was executed is just plain amateurish. That alone should be punishable.
