it would be interesting to see ESPN's P/L for bowl games and compare that to what alternative programming would provide. As long as the participating teams have required ticket purchases and don't push back on that I think a lot of the bowls will survive. Of course if they allowed two extra weeks of practice for all teams and not just bowl teams I could see a lot of teams skipping the bowl games and this would probably be better financially for the schools in most games
