To your line highlighted in red...is Stanford no longer a fun place to go to school full of people who take ideas seriously but not themselves too seriously?

Thanks, Mick.  Based on the reports of the "War on Fun" from the administration, the behavior of an associate dean and law school students, the article in The Atlantic about campus protests, and the poor leadership by the Athletics Director, Stanford looks and sounds unrecognizable from my time there or even from the last time I was on campus for reunion (2019).  The latest two announcements (Kyle Smith and Jon Levin) make me optimistic about the short and long term future.
