We went. No 'show' in the showcase really, other than a bit of scrimmage toward the end. Does it count against their sprint training session limits? On the one-hand, it may be a smart way to sneak in an extra practice, but as a live attendee it would have been nice if they at least had a PA announcer or printed roster for reference. It was mostly just position groups practicing for at least the first 45 minutes or so, then some scrimmaging.
No one stood out to us as the next McCaffery/Elway/Luck, etc. Of the QB's, Daniels looked best to me, and honestly he looked better then last year to me. Tight, fast throwing motion seemed stronger, was pretty accurate and seemed more confident/quick with making decisions. Maybe that's just the comfort of the green vest, I dunno, but he looked better. Brown looked quick, but was off on more passes, had less zip (maybe more touch?) and looked like he needs time to get bigger and stronger. When Elway played as a true freshman, there was a 'holy cow' sense watching him throw -- didn't have that sense about Brown, yet anyway. Lamson was hit and miss -- there were a few moments when I thought 'why isn't this guy starting, and then other moments when I said "oh, that's why".... Reuben looks the part of an NFL receiver, and was getting good separation, etc., but dropped a couple easy ones (and made a great grab in the endzone). If he could put it all together, he could play on Sundays, so really hoping for him this is his break-out year. If there was one guy who stands out as a potential star in the making to me, it was Irvin. He breaks tackles and accelerates away like a keeper. Butler looks like a compact beast and should be a great compliment. Just my two cents.
