While Thorbjornsen, Vilips and Brown have all had their highlights in their 4 and 5 year Stanford careers, none of them quite rose to the level you might have expected given their junior and amateur accomplishments. The team was close last year. But they lost a tiebreaker for the 8th and final match play spot.

The big disappointment to me is that the last 3 recruiting classes (since Vilips and Thorbjornsen) has not yielded a single reliable contributor. Aside from Thorbjornsen and Vilips, no other player placed in the top 10 of a tournament this year. Stanford brings in the #1 recruiting class in the country next year. But the roster they will join does not have much to build on. And Stanford is joining the ACC, the top men's golf conference.
