Closest 8-0 game ever?

Happy for Stanford. I *think* the umps missed the ball hitting the calf of a Stanford player, but the challenge rules are what they are. Can't really blame LSU for challenging the previous plays at the plate, either. Just a bad situation. But all credit to the Stanford bats for putting the game out of reach after that questionable call.

Here is the rule (that is possibly unique to softball, as opposed to baseball, or just occurs much more frequently given the distance between bases):

"12.17.2.6 It is not interference, and the runner is not out:


12.17.2.6.2 When the runner is hit with a fair, untouched batted ball that has passed a fielder (other than the pitcher) and, in the umpire’s judgment, no other fielder had a reasonable chance to make a play."

So at this point, it is arguing semantics at best for LSU whether the right fielder had a reasonable chance to make a play. Also, the LSU coach burned both her challenges (which is relatively new to softball), including one that was a desperation challenge. Given our controversial loss to UCLA, I do feel a bit bad for LSU; but unlike the UCLA game, Stanford left no doubt who the better team was tonight.
