Phogge the winner

Phogge edged out Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen and Walter Hagen when he chipped in with his niblick on the 72nd hole to finish +9, winning the first prize of $500.

Actually...not quite right. The 1924 U. S. Open was played at a private course (as were the 27 U. S. Opens before it), Bloomfield Hills in Michigan. Nice course, I played it once and I attended a few events there when I worked in Detroit.

There are 10 courses slated to host the U. S. Opens between now and the year 2042. The answer is one of those 10.
