No one has had employees poached for more pay, more vacation, less work, or whatever?  Is your first act to fire the director of HR when that happens?  People leave all the time and there is only so much anyone can control.  Frankly if Stanford's NIL czar wanted to spend a million bucks on a single softball player, then yeah, I'd think twice about keeping them on as czar.
