That, and the fact that it wasn't a local child, but a teen who came in from Tracy to commit some mayhem. That was weird in and of itself.
My wife's a shopper and used to go to Union Square regularly, by herself, day or night. About 10-12 years ago, she stopped going at night. Five years ago, she stopped going without me to escort her, and two years ago, she insisted we depart before 3 p.m.. Of course, without the 140 retail outlets that have closed since COVID, there's not as much of a reason to go there any more.
Not sure what that says or portends, but nothing good, I imagine.
