It's going to be a new era for Stanford golf. For the first time in 4 years, Rachel Heck will not be on the roster. She has been an incredible team leader from the time that she was a freshman. It's a compliment to her that Stanford won 2 national championships in her 4 years (even though she really only played 2 1/2 of those 4 years).
But Stanford does return 3 players from last year's champions - sophomore Paula Martin Sampedro and juniors Megha Ganne and Kelly Xu. The team adds 4 frosh who will likely compete for the other 2 spots. The fall season will be of great interest as probably all 4 + senior Caroline Sturdza will get a chance to play.
The team will only compete in 3 spring tournaments plus a dual meet vs. San Jose State so not much opportunity for Coach Walker to play around with the line up before conference championship and regionals.
The schedule is heavily tilted to tournaments and events (relatively) close to home. Stanford will play one fall event in Albuquerque and one spring event in Fort Worth. Everything else before the ACC conference tournament will be in California or Hawaii.
