One thing I’m not sure is if taking a QB sack factors towards the OLine scoring more poorly in their PFF pass protection grade?
If so I think that might sometimes be unfair to our guys.
From an eye test, if our OLine gives our QB long pass protect time, like 4+ seconds, then the QB takes a sack rather than having thrown a completed pass or thrown away if every receiver truly covered, then that’s on QB not OLine.
PFF accounts for this and I alluded to exactly that in my post. PFF loved (at least on initial grading) our pass blocking yet we gave up four sacks against a team that doesn’t generally sack much. Obviously PFF blamed other factors (e.g., Daniels and Lamson) more than the OL pass blocking.
