Have no problem with that.  USC is a private school.  They should be allowed to admit whoever they want to and for any reason they want to.

This would be fine if they were up front about it and simply said something like “up to 10% of our admissions slots will be auctioned off to the highest bidder” or “we reserve 500 admissions slots in the freshmen class to students able to donate $5million” or something like that.  I have no idea on the legality, but certainly it seems scummy to be saying that they use a holistic approach that values academic excellence, blah, blah, blah, but they actually have an approach where if you donate enough money there is a separate path.
