Not sure, but they probably weren't but should have been in 1981. That was the year SJS kicked Stanford's butt 28-6. Particularly embarrassing because Stanford had two of their all-time greats that year, John Elway and Darrin Nelson. Supposedly SJS coach Jack Elway just tore into Paul Wiggin after the game because of how poorly he felt his son was being coached.
P.S. Interesting that Wiggin was 1-3 against SJS but somehow found a way to beat Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Washington (when the Huskies were ranked #1 in the nation). A characteristic of his teams were sometimes they showed up to play and sometimes they didn't. I remember walking out of the stadium after the Washington game saying to myself, I'm sure glad we won but why can't we play like that more often.
