Good guess. George Harrison was the first Beatle on American soil. He and his brother Peter visited their older sister, Louise, in her home of Benton, Illinois. Harrison went to NYC, St. Louis and Benton. 

Harrison visited WFRX radio with a copy of "She Loves You" which had been released three weeks earlier in Britain. It got a positive review in Billboard, but little radio play. Capitol Records (owned by EMI) was underwhelmed by the Beatles records, so Vee Jay, a small US label that specialized in R&B music released it.

Louise's husband was a Scottish mining engineer who emigrated to work in the Illinois coal mines. George Harrison played with a local band, the Four Vests, covering Chet Atkins and Carl Perkins. Some of the band members took George to a music shop where George bought a red Rickenbacker 425 guitar, asking the store owner to refinish it in black. The Rickenbacker made its first public appearance on Ready Steady Go on October 4 when George returned to London. Purchased for $400, it sold at auction in 2016 for $657,000.
