Game attendance was just 26,219. Toledo is just an hour away, Pitt is about four hours away. Seems like paying customers stayed away in droves.

and that's likely "seats sold" including who knows how many each team had to buy and may not have used....

According to reports, there were fewer than 10,000 people actually in attendance. It was at a nice venue (Ford Field) and both universities were within driving distance.
