Cool question Mick, and I say that as someone who likes to remain at least ten years behind the times musically. But to be fair, someone that kept his son-in-law from tossing a crate full of vinyl someone gave him for $5 at a garage sale just to dump it. He had never heard the awesomeness of what was in there. He only wanted the Sound of Music soundtrack for my granddaughter (would pay five bucks for that alone) but came away with a range of stuff including pristine (sealed) copies of Miles, Tijuana Brass, Chet Baker, Chick Correa, Ornette Colman, Thelonious, James Gang, and "Who is this Led Zeppelin guy?"

Great catch, and great haul by your son-in-law. My sons say I'm closer to 20 years behind the times, but I'm fine with that. I like every single musician on your list but for some reason, I could never get into Chick Corea. When I was a DJ, my station manager loooooved Chick Corea. One of my fellow DJs clued me in and said if the station manager was ever in a bad mood, just play Chick Corea before you met with him. Worked like a charm. Corea, incidentally, was nominated for 67 Grammies and won 23, sixth most all-time among male solo artists. 

Mom was a brobdingnagian fan of Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, Dave Brubeck, Thelonious Monk. Fun household in which to grow up as she transitioned from 1950s R&B to jazz. She had eclectic tastes. 

I was a latecomer to that Led Zeppelin guy, now one of my favorite groups.
