Jones instead of Purdy?   No, no, no, no, no, no, no.  And 1,000 more no’s.  

Jones is mediocre at best - just another guy.  He is the modern day equivalent of Steve DeBerg - just good enough to lose.  

Purdy, while not a Tier One guy, is a solid Tier 2 QB.  I would not trade him for anything less than a top of the First Round selection.

I don’t think Purdy would not get you a top of the first round pick.  But I also dont  think they are trading him.  Jones will be a solid backup.

Disagree on Jones. Think he'll do very well in Shanahan's system. Played great at Bama, hasn't had a lot of talent around him in the pros. He'll not replace Purdy, though.

Agreed. He's a decent backup at a good price. Since he's young, he also has upside in that if Purdy is injured and he plays well, we could trade him for value or get a comp pick back when someone else signs him like we did with Sam Darnold.
