A question for those who know more about softball than I, talent, and recruits. 
Out hitting seems to have improved significantly, but our pitching has gone the other way, if only because there is only one name Canady.  Our hitting can win us a lot of games, but we can also lose games like Duke when we don't hit and do not have the shutdown pitching Canady provided. 
Do we have any incoming pitchers even close to Canady's ability. If you have a weakness it seems far better to be short of hitting rather than pitching, but if you want to play on Sundays, so to speak, you need both.

Definitely better to have dominant pitching than strong hitting, as we saw the last two years with Canady. It's possible to ride one dominant pitcher all the way to the WCWS. Fortunately we also had a good #2 pitcher in Krause last year. Oregon is of course beatable and hasn't played a strong schedule, but their top pitcher held UCLA scoreless over 11 innings this season. I would assume she is pitching against us.
