Yes we lost Canady  I think we all knew that. :)

I hope Stanford can insure they don’t lose the coach. 

I have to say that this morning it feels like it was a bad dream but unfortunately it was not. 

I think it wasn’t just the pitching, but it was also that Stanford didn’t put in a hosting bid and so arguably didn’t play the series at home.

Yes, we all knew that Canady was gone.  But, I thought our pitchers would be better than they were.  There are a good number of college pitchers not named Canady who whose SO to Walk ration is 5 to 1 or better. That ratio is hardly the be all and end all of the story, mostly we need NOT to walk so many opponents. Make them swing.  Last year Canady struck out 337 and walked 44.  She was indeed a generational pitcher. The year before that.  Her Frosh year Canady was 21 walks and 218 Strike Outs.  More importantly, Vawter had a ratio of 5 to 1.  What we would have given to have had her this last year. The year before Canady arrived, all our pitchers  had far more strikeouts than walks.  
This is a stat that has to improve unless we have a great deal of luck.
I have no idea how possible it is to correct a softball pitchers technique to throw more balls that force hitters to swing. Is it talent, coaching or just a bad year.  Hard to say. I just think out young women deserved a better ending.  I am becoming a believer that if you want to win in softball you need very good pitching.  Good hitting won't cover up bad pitching well enough.
