Ouch, or not. At a certain point one would hope your populace has better things to do than anchor their weekend around a game. I'd venture to say the Bay Area far surpasses Texas (if not the entire south) in medicines developed, technologies invented, and productivity enhanced. I happen to be someone who loves that AND loves college sports, but I would definitely not trade cultures for the world.
