I just love how we are talking about this like a professional contract, which, to be fair it is.  But that's still a long way from the idea that she is planning to get her degree from TTU (which, I hope she does).

Well, if her contract is like a professional contract, her performance can critiqued similarly. And the performance in this WCWS Finals has been *awful* for how much she is getting paid and how talented she is.

I would add that that critique must take into account how many innings she has pitched this year. It may be she had absolutely nothing left in the tank. At this level of competition even a small loss of velocity and/or control due to exhaustion can make all the difference. That is arguably the coach's fault, not hers.

Yes, but the counter argument to it is if Canady took 6 figures money instead of 7 figures, imagine how good of a #2/rest of the rotation TTU could have? And then she wouldn't have to throw 240 innings in a season and carry an otherwise limited team.
