Really appreciate Matt's work.  Need to digest and react. My initial reaction is damn, that's a long list and everyone made it. We ain't getting Saban or Urban..... I said my piece on Greg roman. I, like Mick, tried a simple ChatGPT query, so I'll react to that. It went for fit rather than, like, a good coach. Must be stuff floating on the interwebs. It's top ten interview candidates are:

1. Pep Hamilton. Could see Luck doing something like that. He's at Maryland as their OC. Maryland is Big Integer middling. Locksley will be fired any day now, so maybe he is the interim soon and/or easily available. (Easily available is not the best criterion for hiring a coach.)

2. Jason Garrett. Lost to Taylor the last search, which isn't dispositive. On TV every Sunday, eh.

3. Coach Ken. First met the guy at USNA on I-Day 2012. He was great once. Think his time has passed. Spartans suck basically.

4. Chris Petersen. Sure if he leaves the comfort of TV after so many years into a completely new industry.  Feels 20 years too late.

5. Kliff Kingsbury.  Can we offer a ton of cash to be the OC? His HC record is 28-37-1 across 4 seasons in the NFL. A younger Frank Reich maybe. I do like the spectacular success or complete disaster, nothing in between, vibe.

6. Derek Mason. Stanford/Vandy retread. The dude is 31-71. Winners win everywhere. That's not it.

7. Tavita. 

8. Troy Walters.  Been with the Bengals six seasons. Bill Walsh came from the Bengals. That's a non-sequitur for those watching from home.

9. Dave Clawson. No. Thank you.

10. Andy Thompson.  GPT's answer when I asked if it was serious. "Internal candidate already in the Stanford system, could offer continuity and institutional knowledge." That is exactly what we do not need.

Shoot. I miss Paul Johnson. I think his daughter lives in Sedona now. Close-ish. Why not?

Just get the dude from Tulane already, before he's at LSU or Florida.
