I think Stanford will upset #9 Notre Dame this weekend, because:
1) Notre Dame just had a brobdingnagian, blowout win over Syracuse, 70-7. They will let down.
2) Classic trap game for Notre Dame. They have won nine straight since their 0-2 start with losses of 3 points (Miami) and 1 point (Texas A&M).
3) All nine of those wins have been by 10 or more points. Closest was a 34-24 win over USC. They're due for a letdown.
4) Stanford now coming into its own, particularly on defense.
5) Turkey hangover for ND, too much tryptophan. They'll be sluggish.
6) Most of all, the 10:30 p.m. start time (7:30 pacific). Notre Dame will be ahead in the first half, Stanford will win a close game in the second half as UND's players will have body clocks past midnight.
Stanford, 28-27, 5-7 final record.
Bartender, I'll have what he's having, but just a single please, trying to pace myself
Of all the NCAA games this weekend, Notre Dame v. Stanford has the largest spread, opening at -29.5, now at -33.5 points.
